What we provide
IN HOME VISIT
We begin each client relationship with a complimentary one hour in-home consultation, which enables us to get to know you, your situation, your needs and priorities. We walk through your home with you to determine the scope of your move and develop an estimate and range of services that would fit with your needs, goals and budget.
PERSONALIZED TRANSITION PLAN
We create an individualized Transition Plan tailored to your needs, addressing the move itself, assistance in downsizing your belongings, packing, unpacking and setting up your new home. Your plan may also include working with your real estate professional to ensure your home is "staged" for an optimal sale, and with your new community to ensure the move will be made smoothly and according to their guidelines.
SORTING, “EDITING” & DOWNSIZING
We go through your belongings together with you and determine which things to keep, give to family, sell, donate or discard and arrange the handling of those items. Your NEXTChapter team is able to sort & organize at your pace so that you have the time to go through this sometimes emotional process in a time frame that works for you.
INTERIOR DESIGN & FLOOR PLANNING
An important first step in clients’ transitions, especially when moving to a smaller home, is to create a custom to-scale floor plan of your new home, using measurements of your furniture pieces to determine a realistic layout that not only looks attractive, but also efficiently uses space and maximizes storage opportunities. We are also able to make recommendations in decorating & organizing your new space.
PACKING
Our teams are specially trained in packing, handling your precious belongings with the utmost care. We “pack to unpack” with each box color coded by room it is going to be moved to and labeling the contents in each individual box. This makes it easy to find items and makes unpacking much easier and more efficient. NEXTChapter teams take digital photographs prior to packing, so we can recreate the environment at your new home.
MOVE MANAGEMENT
We recommend and coordinate with moving companies, negotiate prices, contracts and terms, ensuring that all details are taken care of, including coordinating moving details with your new community. We oversee moving day to ensure that everything is handled smoothly and according to the transition plan we have agreed upon.
UNPACKING & HOME SETUP
After professionally packing your belongings, we completely unpack and set up your new home. We set up your kitchen, bathrooms, and storage areas, connect electronic devices, make beds, hang pictures and set out decorative items, according to your wishes & design. Finally, we remove all boxes and packing materials, leaving you to quickly settle into your new home on the very first day!
ESTATE CLEAR OUT
Some families may need assistance with cleaning out an estate of a loved one, once the family has determined which items they wish to keep and donate. We work through a trusted network of Estate Sale professionals, auctioneers, charities, antique dealers & appraisers, and junk "haul away" companies to ensure that your home will be cleared out and left in “broom clean” condition. We can even arrange to have the house professionally cleaned for its sale.
AGING IN PLACE AT HOME
If downsizing and relocation is not the best option for you, we can assist you with the process of adapting your existing home to meet your current needs. Often simple changes can improve the accessibility and safety of your home. In other cases, major renovation such as adding a first floor master suite may be needed. CONCIERGE & PERSONAL SHOPPING SERVICES
Throughout the move process, there are often times that clients request help with shopping for decorative or organizational items, handling utilities and other details, or simply running errands during this busy time. We often provide these services, helping alleviate stress during this hectic time.
